From the 17th to the 21st October we will be presenting Ulster American by award winning playwright David Ireland. Director: Hugh Dow
The play is a witty, full length, no interval, farce noir which toys with identity, faux woke-ism, shallow national romanticism, and artistic pretentiousness.
We are looking for three characters:
Jay Conway – American actor and Oscar winner. Very up himself, precious, and hopelessly ignorant about the complexities of Ireland
Leigh Carver – British or Irish director who has nabbed a big fish in Jay and must watch his plans to put him on in the London stage unravel before his eyes
Ruth Davenport – Ulster Protestant playwright. Gutsy, fearless, possessive of her talent and her identity crucial to the plot so authenticity essential.
