‘Picasso At The Lapin Agile’ by Steve Martin
Directed by Jeremy Zeegers
Dates:
30th of Nov, 1st, 2nd & 5th to 9th of December, 8pm
Venue:
The Warehouse Studio Theatre, 69a Waelhemstraat, Schaerbeek.
It’s 1904. Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso – both in their twenties, neither of them yet famous – spend an evening at a bar called the Lapin Agile in Montmartre, Paris.
When two of the most inspired minds of the 20th century meet by chance, sparks fly. But is it genius igniting or egos flaring when an artist and a scientist – each destined to revolutionize an era – square off and size each other up?
One thing is certain: this will be a night to remember for the eclectic set of regulars – and some surprising not-so-regulars! – who gather in the Lapin Agile to drink, dream, and have it out about art and life, time and history, and how meaningful or beautiful – or maybe just plain silly – it all is.
(Please note that parking in the area round the Warehouse is becoming ever more difficult – and parking charges in the immediate area now apply until 9 pm! – so if you are coming by car please allow plenty of time to find a parking space.)
