This historic play examines the troubled relationship between King Henry II of England and Thomas Becket, the friend whom he appoints first Chancellor of England, and later Archbishop of Canterbury. This dramatic version of events deals with the growing rift between them, leading ultimately to Becket’s violent death in his Cathedral. It deals with themes of conquest and colonialism, the struggle between Church and State, but above all questions of friendship, faith and honour.
Set in both France and Norman England, it will be performed part in French part in English, with translation on surtitles in both languages.
