The ATC is kicking off the Season with a double-bill:
27 Wagons Full of Cotton by Tennessee Williams and directed by Conrad Toft (ATC) – First Prize at FEATS
The story of a cotton gin owner, Jake Meighan (Andy Blumenthal), and his young wife, Flora (Peyton Cimino). When there is a fire in the neighbouring plantation, suspicion falls on Jake and the plantation superintendent, Silva Vicarro (Gareth Lewis), comes looking for his own special brand of vengeance…
For Whom the Summer Belle Tolls by Christopher Durang and directed by Valerie Doyle (The Hamburg Players) – Second Prize at FEATS.
Christopher Durang’s affectionate parody of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie features the dysfunctional Wingvalley family. Meet Amanda, a fading southern belle, her two sons Lawrence and Tom and Ginny – a feminine caller paying a visit to the Wingvalley household. Amanda tries to face everything with charm and vivacity but sometimes she just wants to hit somebody.
