{"id":1205,"date":"2014-09-17T23:35:07","date_gmt":"2014-09-17T21:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theatreinbrussels.com\/listings\/?p=1205"},"modified":"2015-10-24T11:30:42","modified_gmt":"2015-10-24T09:30:42","slug":"itg-getting-to-here-1721-oct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theatreinbrussels.com\/listings\/blog\/itg-getting-to-here-1721-oct\/","title":{"rendered":"ITG: Getting to Here (17,21 Oct)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft featured_image wp-post-image\" src=\"http:\/\/irishtheatrebrussels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Microphone-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"Auditions 17\/10 + 21\/10\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><em>Our Spring 2016 production is Getting to Here by Lisa N\u00ed Laoire.<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><em>This is a new piece of writing for the ITG\u00a0where, from very personal perspectives,\u00a0we\u00a0look back over some of the key events of the 100 years which separate us from Easter 1916.<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4>Casting both a cold eye and a tender eye on Ireland\u2026more accurately, lending an ear to the histories and herstories of how we got to where we are now.<\/h4>\n<h4>We\u00a0use the voices of Ireland to recount the personal tales which, taken together, tell us something truthful about the short but poignant history since the proclamation of the Irish Republic a century ago.<\/h4>\n<h4>With story-telling,\u00a0audio-visual flash-backs and theatre, we explore and preserve some of the more notable transitions in Irish history.<\/h4>\n<h4>We take a look at where we are now and how we got here.<\/h4>\n<h2><strong>Auditions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4>Auditions will be held:<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Sat 17th October 2-5pm<\/strong>\u00a0@\u00a0<a title=\"The Warehouse\" href=\"http:\/\/irishtheatrebrussels.com\/warehouse\/\">The Warehouse\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\n(please plan to attend for the full session)<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Wed 21st October 7:30-10pm<\/strong>\u00a0@\u00a0<a title=\"The Warehouse\" href=\"http:\/\/irishtheatrebrussels.com\/warehouse\/\">The Warehouse\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\n(please plan to attend for the full session)<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Rehearsals<\/strong>\u00a0will begin in November and\u00a0will vary from one to two weekday evenings and one weekend afternoon.<\/h4>\n<h4>The production run of Getting to Here is scheduled for 12-16 April 2016<\/h4>\n<h4>Please send any questions you might have to\u00a0<a class=\"ge XTRmvd\" href=\"mailto:itg.asbl@gmail.com\">itg.asbl@gmail.com<\/a><\/h4>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<h2><strong>Cast<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4><strong>Narrator (Male\/Female) 30 \u2013 40<\/strong>:<br \/>\nArticulate, confident and charismatic. Has strong stage presence. An all-rounder.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Teacher (Male) 30 \u2013 45:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Erratic, wild, miserable \u00a0and a touch eccentric. He can\u2019t understand why he became a teacher, which is reflected in his every action.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Student (Female) 23 \u2013 35:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Confident, loud and slightly disturbed. Has experienced too much, too soon without much adult nurturing and as a result has become inconsistent in her speech and defensive about everything.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Church keeper (Female) 48 \u2013 65:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Solemn, reflective and strong willed. Well composed and unshaken by others.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<h4><strong>Mother (Female) 55 -65:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Contrary, sarcastic and always right. She is unintentionally funny and often out of touch with anything her children or husband are saying.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Father (Male): 55-65:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Grumpy, defensive and argumentative. He is usually lost as to what is going on and ends up as the butt of every joke.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Daughter (Female): 25-35:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Solid character with a strong personality but often quiet. Has had to fight for her voice to be heard.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Son (Male): 25 \u2013 35:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Class clown and a mammy\u2019s boy. Though generally playful and upbeat he has a dark secret.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Politician 40 \u2013 65 (Male):<br \/>\n<\/strong>Over the top, arrogant and sleazy. BIG personality. Always appears to be shouting when he\u2019s talking. A smile permanently painted on his face<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Beauty Queen (Female) 25 \u2013 45:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Diverse role to play with buckets of personality.
