The Cripple of Inishmaan will be directed by Noreen Doyle, and performed in the Warehouse Studio Theatre from Tue 7 – Sat 11 and Thur 16-Fri 17 February [Sold Out]
The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland in 1934, is a dark comedy. Inspired by a real event – the filming of The Man of Aran on Inishmore in 1934 – the story follows the impact of the news of the filming on young Cripple Billy and the other inhabitants of Inishmaan. Could this be their escape from life on Inishmaan where the tedium is broken only by the gossip and stories put about by Johnnypateenmike?
Cruel, sad, sometimes violent, yet achingly funny, the story reveals the characters in a way that makes you realise that people are not always as they seem.
