BLOC: Evita auditions

The Brussels Light Opera Company will be presenting the Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical “EVITA” at the Auderghem Cultural Centre theatre between the 28th November and the 1st December 2013.  It will be performed in English.  This will be a very challenging show for all concerned.  It is sung throughout; there is hardly any dialogue.  The dancing will be very, very basic Tango/Samba style; nothing balletic.

SOLOISTS – There are five main soloist parts, those of

ETC: Don Juan (24, 27, 29 April 2014)

Auditions for: Don Juan

ETCetera asbl, who puts on plays in different languages (with surtitles), such as Becket, Hamlet Unplugged, An Evening with Strindberg etc., is putting on a production from Nov 4th-9th 2014 at the Warehouse Studio with the title “Don Juan – a European myth”.

This time the evening will be composed of fragments of 3 works making up the life of the famous hero/anti-hero Don Juan, as seen by Molière, Tirso de Molina, and Pushkin (as well as Mozart). The parts will be played in English, or in Russian and Spanish with surtitles in English.

We are looking for:

  • youngish female actors (20-35) able to perform in English or in Russian, and
  • less young male actors (30-60) able to perform in English, in Spanish or in Russian

Auditions will take place:

  • Thursday 24th April at 19.30
  • Sunday 27th April at 18.00
  • Tuesday 29th April at 19.30

Joanna Patrick will be directing A Lady of Letters and is looking for a woman capable of playing someone middle-aged

Jonathan Stockwell will be directing Soldiering On, and is looking for a woman to play a character aged 55 or above

ITG: The London Vertigo 10 and 17 Feb 2016

Auditions for the Irish Theatre Group’s FEATS 2016 entry: Brian Friel’s The London Vertigo will be held on Wednesday 10 & 17 February at 8pm at the Warehouse, 69a rue Waelhem, 1030 Brussels.

The London Vertigo is a hilarious period comedy based on the play The true born Irishman, or, The Irish fine lady by Charles Macklin. We are looking for 2 women (20s-50s) and 3 men (20s-60s) – for more info or any questions send us an email: (synopsis and more details here)

ETC: Singers for “Mr Choufleuri restera chez lui” (6-7 May)

We are looking for chorus members and some soloists for a short Offenbach opera in November!

ETCetera asbl (Don Juan, Beckett, An evening of Strindberg, Absurd absurd etc.) is putting on Offenbach’s “Mr Choufleuri restera chez lui”, an amusing one act comic opera that pokes fun at the bourgeoisie and at Italian opera. In French.

Musical director Elizabeth Flynn, stage director Anna Holmén.

We are looking for members of a chorus of 8-12 singers:

  • Sopranos
  • Altos
  • Tenors
  • Basses

We are also looking for the following trained soloists (with a reasonable French accent – soloists will also have speaking roles):

  1. Choufleuri – middle aged plus – high baritone
  2. Ernestine, his daughter – age up to 40, to play a role of early 20s – soprano
  3. Babylas, Ernestine’s admirer – age up to 45 – high tenor
  4. Peterman, Choufleuri’s manservant – age immaterial – tenor or high baritone
  5. Balandard, a henpecked husband – middle aged plus – baritone
  6. Madame Balandard, a domineering wife – middle aged plus – mezzo soprano

Performances will be Nov 11-14 2015, at Theatre Petit Varia, rue Gray, with tech rehearsal on Nov 8 and dress rehearsal on Nov 10. Rehearsals initially at any rate will probably be Wednesday evenings in Etterbeek.

We are having first Auditions on 6/7 May, with probably others to follow.
