If you have been to the
Warehouse recently, you will have noticed
that we have had to ban vehicle access to the courtyard. This
is
because we have been informed that there is a risk of
collapse.
Indeed, when a structural engineering expert assessed the cellar (which
extends under the entire complex), he found that the metal girders
supporting it had been eaten away by rust and, as a result, are
considerably weakened.
In view of the findings, we urgently need to carry out reinforcement work on the structure and this is where we need your help. We have already obtained quotes from structural engineering firms and, as you can imagine, the work isn't going to come cheap.
This is why we are launching the Warehouse Project which is aimed at raising €100,000; not only will it go towards reinforcing the cellar, but also repairing the attic floor, installing heating/cooling systems in the Studio and rehearsal rooms and improving the toilets.
The campaign will run for a year, during which we will hold a number of fund-raising events. Please support as many of these as you can. The first of these is our BBQ/Fête which will take place on 14th September in the Warehouse courtyard (more details here). Please mark this date in your diary and bring along your family and friends to enjoy a great afternoon of food, socialising, games and entertainment.
We are also running an "Adopt a brick" campaign. For a donation of a minimum of €50, you will receive a special certificate and you name will appear on a list of donors to be permanently displayed in the Warehouse Studio Theatre. Your name will appear on a list of donors and you will be able to track the progress of the campaign on the "brick-o-meter" which will also be on display. You can adopt a brick by filling in this form:
Many, many people get a great deal of enjoyment from using the Warehouse complex. Now we have to give something back. Please support this campaign in any way you can. I'd be really happy to hear from you if you have any suggestions for fund-raising and, in particular, if you have any corporate sponsors you would like to suggest.
I look forward to seeing you at the BBQ. In the meantime, if you can adopt a brick or two, that would be great.
Thanks for your support!
